A little announcement from Jake.
This Sunday is Crows Nest Fest, our busiest day of the year. The beers will be flowing, the burgers will be flying, and I’ll be doing whatever I can to be helpful. Apparently, standing in the kitchen asking “How’s everyone going?” isn’t on that list.
Once we’ve made it through the Sunday festivities, we’re closing on Monday 19th October and throwing the crew a well-earned staff party.
And bloody hell, they’ve earned it.
Launching our new menu has involved a mountain of prep, a very busy kitchen and more smashed patties than anyone should reasonably develop an emotional attachment to.
Then I gave them a burger called Satay Me Harder.
What seemed like an excellent naming decision has become something our staff have to say out loud. Repeatedly. To strangers. While maintaining eye contact. Some of the girls can no longer get through it with a straight face. The kitchen hears it in their sleep. And every bloke who orders one thinks he’s the first person to add “please” and raise an eyebrow.
You’re not, mate. You’re the seventh since lunch.
So we’re giving the team a chance to sit down, have a drink and enjoy a meal they haven’t had to prep, cook, carry or explain to someone who “just has a quick question”.
For once, when somebody asks for another round, it’ll be them.
All jokes aside, I’m incredibly grateful for this crew. They’ve put a huge amount of effort into getting the new menu out, keeping the place humming and making everyone feel welcome. They back each other, they back this little bar, and they deserve a proper thank-you.
To our locals and everyone who’s come in to try the new menu, thank you for getting behind us too. You’ve kept us busy, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Come down this Sunday, soak up Crows Nest Fest and make Plan B part of your day.
Then we’re letting the team off the leash.
I’ve made one rule for the staff party: nobody has to say “Satay Me Harder”.
Especially me. Apparently, I’ve done enough.
